Nicholas E. Perkins, DO, MS, FACP
Chief Clinical Analytics Officer, Prisma Health
I serve as the Chief Clinical Analytics Officer for Prisma Health, South Carolina’s largest not-for-profit health system — spanning 18 acute and specialty hospitals, more than 300 ambulatory practices, and a network of over 5,000 clinicians. Prisma Health generates about $6.4 billion in annual operating revenue, supports more than 2,800 licensed beds, and employs nearly 29,000 team members statewide.
In this role, I lead enterprise strategy at the intersection of clinical medicine, data science, and digital transformation — using analytics and automation to improve outcomes, reduce clinician burden, and create measurable operational value.
Previously, as Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer, I directed Epic optimization initiatives, developed the system’s physician-builder program, and co-led the design of Prisma’s enterprise analytics and data-governance strategy.
Clinically, I continue to practice as an attending hospitalist and serve as Medical Director for Prisma Health’s Hospital-at-Home program, extending high-acuity care safely into patients’ homes and advancing new models of care delivery.
Transforming healthcare isn’t just about technology — it’s about understanding how people, process, and data intersect. The most meaningful solutions come from translating complexity into clarity and aligning innovation with the human experience of care.
This site is a place to share what I’ve learned, showcase ongoing projects, and connect with others who believe that healthcare’s future depends on thoughtful, human-centered design.
